There are candies and then there are candies which blow your mind, which make you sit up and take notice.
Around a decade ago, Center Shock chewing gum was one such product (although technically not a candy!) whose extremely sour taste made it stand out from the myriad of other candies and gums!At present, Pass Pass Pulse has managed to achieve a similar feat by selling over 100 Crore worth of candies! And that does convey something about the fan base that this candy has managed to capture.
Now I don’t remember viewing this candy’s advertisement exclusively. Does it even exist? I don’t know! But what I know for sure is that the word of mouth publicity of this tiny little candy has tremendously increased its popularity.
The packing of this product itself is eye catchy. The green and black wrapper itself looks (dare I say ‘sporty’?) unlike any other candy wrapper in the market at this particular price point. That’s fancy stuff for a Re.1 product.
Meanwhile the green candy inside is quite big in size and makes it worth for your hard earned Re.1 that you’re going to spend purchasing it! Although to be honest, you’re not going to buy less than 5 candies if you have tasted it once. (Of course unless you really disliked it already before that is! Duh!) The candy’s outer shell looks similar to those transparent marbles that we used to play with during our childhood period with the inner matter resembling the marble’s plasticky bit that it had at the centre.
The sweet and sour tasting kernel of the candy does taste like kachcha aam (raw mango) indeed but it doesn’t stay integrated for too long and if your tongue scrapes it like a sand paper the shorter it will last. Anyway, what matters more here is the ‘inside stuff’, the ‘core’ of this candy, ‘the heart’ of this ‘Pulse’ (not vice versa!).
If you have tasted Jalani Jaljira or similar appetizing drink then it will be easier for you to comprehend what I describe about the taste of the inner matter as it’s exactly the same! In short, it’s Jaljira inside the raw mango candy. You have eaten those sliced raw mangoes with the reddish Himalayan salt (or the regular salt if you are unlucky) right? If you haven’t then you are missing out on life’s good stuff!
Consuming a packet of Jaljira one after the other is something you wouldn’t voluntarily want to do by yourself unless you are the law breaking and rule disobeying anti-citizen of the earth. (Really, why would you want to?) But strangely this candy com’pulse’s (unintended pun intended) you have to do that! You HAVE to eat one after you’ve eaten the previous one before your mouth loses the tangy taste but mind your tongue! Yes, your tongue will feel this strange sensation after consuming too many of them like a candy monster.
So, to conclude, Pass Pass Pulse is Jaljira filled tangy candy. Do I recommend it? Definitely! A BIG thumbs up from me to this green candy and worth buying one or even a jar of it just because you want to! Beware of its knock offs though!
